A week of school visits and local discussions helped turn the programme outline into a practical first stage for five barangays.

In August 2026, Maribeth de Montaigne spent one week in Iloilo visiting schools and speaking with the people who will help shape and oversee the first phase.
The visit included discussions with barangay representatives and the Mayor of Mina about the outline of the programme. The first stage will work with five barangays: Agmanaphao, Abat, Bangac, Cabalabaguan and Nasirum.
The immediate focus is educational: essential school materials distributed directly to children, together with a planned solar battery-backup and inverter system and three laptops for each participating barangay.
The aim is to agree what is genuinely needed, who will look after it and how it will reach the children for whom it is intended.
The first-phase outline

Working in a defined first group allows needs, responsibilities, delivery and follow-up to be agreed closely with each community.

Each participating barangay is planned to receive one solar battery-backup and inverter system and three laptops, subject to funding and final agreement.

A practical basis for fundraising and implementation.
The August discussions confirmed the programme’s outline while leaving the final barangay names and detailed equipment stewardship arrangements to the current sign-off process.
No public claim is made that equipment has already been delivered. The first phase is planned for October 2026, and fundraising for it is open.
