School Aid MTÜ is an Estonian non-profit association, register code 80646408. On 18 July 2026 we were approved by Donorbox and our donation form went live. This page sets out what happens next, in order, because a donor is entitled to know the route their money takes and most charities never say.
Who Donorbox are. Donorbox is a dedicated donation platform built for non-profits rather than a general payments company. Charities using it have now raised more than four billion dollars, and in 2025 alone it processed 10.6 million individual donations. Like every other organisation we work with, it approved School Aid only after checking our registration — nobody simply took our word for it.
The chain, in full. Your card is processed by Stripe, one of the largest regulated payment processors in the world. Settled funds move to a Wise Business account held in the name of School Aid MTÜ — not in any individual name, which matters more than it sounds. From there they pay suppliers, freight and equipment. Three regulated companies stand between your card and our bank account, and each of them keeps its own record.
What we never touch. Your card number never reaches our servers, because it never reaches our servers at all. No one at School Aid can see it, store it, or retrieve it. That is not a policy we are asking you to trust; it is a consequence of how the system is built. If we wanted to behave badly with your card details we would not be able to.
Estonian tax relief — the position changed on 17 August 2026. When this page first went up, our application to the Estonian Tax and Customs Board was still being assessed, and we said so plainly. It has since been decided in our favour. The Board entered School Aid MTÜ on the national income-tax-incentive list by decision of 17 August 2026, reference 12.2-6/00115-2, with effect from 1 September 2026. From that date an Estonian resident taxpayer may deduct gifts to School Aid from taxable income, capped at €1,200 a year and at 50% of taxable income; an Estonian company may give within the limits of § 49 of the Income Tax Act. The full decision, and what it means, is set out here.
What that does not cover, stated plainly. Gifts made before 1 September 2026 fall outside the relief — the date is real, not a formality. And the relief is Estonian. We cannot offer UK Gift Aid or a United States 501(c)(3) receipt, and we are not going to imply otherwise. If you are giving from outside Estonia, please assume your gift is not tax-deductible unless your own adviser tells you differently.
Why the account name matters. A charity that receives money into an individual bank account has, whatever its intentions, made itself impossible to audit. Ours is held in the registered name of the association, it appears in our filed annual accounts, and the Estonian Business Register will show you our status, our board and our beneficial owner for free. The whole argument of this website is that a stranger should be able to check us rather than trust us.
What we will not publish, and why. We do not publish running donation totals. At this stage the figures are small enough that a total would say more about how new we are than about what we do, and a number stripped of context tends to mislead in both directions. What we will publish is the thing that actually matters: mission reports setting out what was bought, what it cost, where it went and who received it.
